There’s an app for that: Gaza’s developers use tech to solve war problems

Gaza's tech sector is being reshaped by young developers developing practical apps to help alleviate problems in the Palestinian enclave. Saja al-Ghoul, a 23-year-old programmer, is developing an app called "Waselni", which aims to alleviate transportation costs and includes a prepaid electronic wallet. Bahaa al-Mallahi, a former engineer at a local internet company, also came up with the idea of creating a dedicated digital platform for lost-and-found items, named Rajja’li. Both developers have faced numerous challenges, including rising subscription fees, unemployment, constant electricity, and soaring work-related expenses.
