A large asteroid, "2026 FM3," flew past Earth just days after it was discovered, coming closer to Earth than the moon and traveling at over 11,000 mph. The 15-foot wide asteroid was discovered by the Zwicky Transient Facility at the Palomar Observatory in California. If it had hit Earth's atmosphere, it would have resulted in a fireball. The asteroid is one of more than 41,000 near-earth asteroids known today.
