Morel begins rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville

The Miami Marlins first baseman, Chris Morel, has begun a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville after suffering a left oblique injury during his Opening Day batting practice. The initial timetable for Morel's recovery from this injury was set at 4-6 weeks. The team plans to keep Morel at first base during his rehab, despite Connor Norby's performance so far this season. This is part of a larger trend for the team, which entered Tuesday with the eighth-highest OPS in the Majors and the second-fewest homers in the league.
