Dan Crenshaw Loses Primary After Becoming Lone Texas Republican Without Trump's Endorsement

Rep. Dan Crenshaw, the only Texas House Republican that President Donald Trump declined to endorse in the primaries, lost to state Rep. Steve Toth in the state's Second Congressional District. With 94.8 percent of the vote counted, Toth had 55.8% of vote, nearly 6% of the majority required to avoid a May 26 runoff. This loss was unexpected, as experts had predicted the race was expected to be close. The loss shows how far Crensh has fallen from being a rising star in the GOP, particularly his tendency to pick fights with the powerful House Freedom Caucus and President Trump. Despite this, Crenchez's career may not be as successful as many others in Congress.
