Greg Newsome II, a former first-round pick for the Giants, has signed a one-year free agent contract with the team. The 25-year-old cornerback hopes to continue playing long-term and prove his performance last year was a fluke. His new deal includes $3 million guaranteed on a deal worth up to $10 million. Cor'Dale Flott's departure to the Titans left a significant gap in the cornerback spot. Newsome's best seasons were with the Browns, where he had as many interceptions as touchdowns allowed and held quarterbacks to a 66.8 passer rating over 14 games in 2023. Despite the trade from the Jaguars, Newsome remains hopeful about a future home in New York.
