Senegal appeal to CAS against handing over of AFCON title to Morocco
Published on March 26, 2026.
Senegal has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) over the decision by CAF to strip them of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) title and hand the trophy to Morocco. This follows a walkout by Senegalese players during the AFCON final, which they won 1-0. The Confederation of African Football (CAF) stated that Senegal had violated tournament regulations by walking off and therefore forfeited the match, resulting in a 3-0 defeat. CAS confirmed that Senegal's appeal seeks to set aside the CAF decision and declare the Royal Moroccan Football Federation as the winners of AFCON.
