The City of Santa Monica has announced that its first English Labrador, Roger, has died following a battle with an aggressive form of cancer. The dog was euthanized on March 20 to prevent further suffering. Roger was the department's first Peer Support K-9, providing comfort, stability, and companionship to personnel during both daily operations and critical incidents. The city will continue to fund the Roger Peer Support Memorial Fund.
