The world's tallest bridge and largest museum, the Grand Egyptian Museum in Giza, have been named in TIME magazine's 100 “greatest places of 2026” by the magazine. The new bridge, which opened in 2025, is designed to reduce commuters’ travel time over the canyon from two hours to two minutes. The museum was two decades in the making and its budget ballooned to over $1 billion, but it opened in November 2025. Other notable destinations include the Grand Egypt Museum in Egypt, the Seto Inland Sea in Japan, the Great Rift Valley in Africa, and the National Museum of Slavery in Angola. African tourism is hampered by lack of connectivity in the continent's aviation sector, which could be a multi-billion dollar opportunity.
