Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp has signed a bill suspending the state gas tax for 60 days, marking the first state-level action aimed at providing relief to consumers amid rising fuel prices due to the Iran war. The bill was part of two laws passed by state lawmakers this week aimed at saving taxpayers money. The other measure includes authorizing the return of nearly $1.2 billion in state income tax refunds. Qualifying taxpayers are expected to receive these refunds within six to eight weeks. The national average price for a gallon of gas reached $3.91 on Friday, a nearly $11 per gallon increase from a month ago.
