Astrophotographer Rod Prazeres was approached by a production company, Project Hail Mary, in August 2024, offering to license his images for use in an undisclosed sci-fi movie. The end credits of the film, Project Hail Mary, featured stunning nebula photos taken over 400 hours by Prazere. The images were used as a backdrop for the credits for the film's soundtrack, which was critically acclaimed and box office earnings. Despite initially believing it was a scam, PrazeRes signed a non-disclosure agreement with the production company and had discussed using his images earlier in the movie's development for a specific sequence but it was later suggested that they might use them for something else. The final images used in the film include some of the most famous nebulas in the night sky, some of which were intentionally removed during the editing stage to prevent them from interfering with the foreground.
