John Curtice: Election results show politics in the UK has fragmented

The UK Greens have recorded an average vote share of 26% in over 500 wards, putting them ahead of all other parties. However, they have only gained 25 seats, largely due to a 17-point drop in Labour support. This drop has been particularly noticeable in areas where the party was strongest and where many people identify as Muslim. So far, the party has lost control of eight councils. There is little sign of the party being able to make significant electoral progress.
