Unmoor your boats: Officials declare ice-out on Lake Minnetonka

The Hennepin County Sheriff's Office and nonprofit Freshwater have declared an ice-out on Lake Minnetonka, indicating that boats can safely travel across the lake without striking the ice. The Department of Natural Resources reports that many lakes are completely free or 90% free of ice when they meet this condition. The median ice out date for Lake Minoutonka is April 13, and its earliest date is May 5,000.
