From Record Highs to Much-Needed Rain

The temperature at 2 p.m. at JAX was already 89 degrees, surpassing the previous record set in 1967. Rainfall models predict that around 0.50 to 1.5 inches of rain will fall over the next seven days, with some areas potentially seeing more. Temperatures will drop to near seasonal averages following the rain, but the increasing onshore wind will keep coastal counties under a slight chance of a passing shower. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop to our south and move north across the area through early evening. The area remains under an Extreme Drought and a Phase II Severe Water Shortage.
