Assembly races could shift political lean of Anchorage’s legislative body

The Anchorage municipal election is set to close in one week, with half of the 12-seat Anchorage Assembly being up for election. Two Assembly members, Felix Rivera and Assembly Chair Chris Constant, are term-limited. George Martinez, Zac Johnson, and Anna Brawley are all defending their seats. Candidates do not need to register with a political party, but some lean more conservative or liberal. If current Mayor Suzanne LaFrance wins, the entire Assembly would shift its political lean.
