Alfonso James Spikes, a 61-year-old man from Miami, was found dead in the Florida Keys in 1988, nearly four decades after his disappearance. The case had gone cold for years and investigators used advanced DNA and genetic genealogy methods to identify him. The cause and manner of death were ruled undetermined by the Monroe County Medical Examiner. Spikes was last seen leaving his Miami home in April 1988 to meet an unknown person. The circumstances of his disappearance are currently unclear.
