The leading Republican candidates for Oregon governor have not yet held debates or appeared together in the current media environment, but have been using different methods to reach voters. The frontrunners, particularly 2022 gubernatorial nominee Christine Drazan and former Trail Blazer and 2010 gubernatorial nominee Chris Dudley, have been spending big on TV and digital ads targeting specific audiences and have been meeting with donors and Republican groups in smaller settings. However, both candidates declined to participate in a journalist-moderated debate scheduled to air on KGW and be co-hosted by The Oregonian/OregonLive. Political strategists argue that avoiding debates could cause voters to perceive a candidate's choice as refusing to discuss issues Oregonians care about or being unwilling to face challenges or criticism. The four top Republican candidates seeking the Republican nomination for governor have all appeared on or are expected to appear on a podcast hosted by Republican legislative aides Bryan Iverson and Reagan Knopp.
