Tom Hanks and director Marielle Heller are set to collaborate for an upcoming baseball dramedy, The Comebacker, which is adapted from a short story by Pulitzer Prize finalist Dave Eggers. The project reunites Hanks with Heller following their successful 2019 collaboration on A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. Grammy-winning artist Bad Bunny and Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo are also reportedly interested in roles in the film. Sony Pictures is leading the race to acquire the film, with early reports suggesting the screenplay will focus on the New York Mets.
