The course of the Iran war will define President Trump's legacy, with the outcome of the conflict defining his presidency as foreign policy. If Iran emerges weakened and hostile, it could damage his prestige and impact America's global security. Polls by AP-NORC show that 59 percent of Americans believe the military action against Iran is excessive and 45 percent are concerned about rising gas prices. The most significant impact of the war is its redrawing of the Middle East, with Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates criticizing Iran's actions and urging the U.S. not to let up until Iran is unable to attack them again. The war has also been successful in damaging Iran's legitimacy, particularly in damaging the 2015 Iran nuclear deal.
