The bakery had been working to resolve the issue but announced that its location is specifically zoned and it will remain a bakery. The issue arose when an inspection by the Jersey City Fire Department found that their 24-inch electric flat top was not up to code due to lack of a hood suppression system. The owner, Melanie Durant, stated that she had been trying to get the issue resolved for years and had not been inspected since 2016.
