The city of Yorkville has made the final property acquisitions for multiple roadway expansions necessary for the 228-acre CyrusOne data center. While the city is covering the up-front costs, all costs will be paid by the developer. The City Council approved a $68,323 acquisition of a 1.57 acre parcel to expand Faxon Road and a $39,750 acquisition of an 0.53 acre parcel for Beecher Road. The acquisitions come in response to new sound limits and water usage requirements for CyrusOne. The city also announced it is no longer providing tax incentives to the company. Concerns have been raised about potential noise pollution during construction, particularly during the potentially lengthy 10- to 20-year construction period.
