The controversial bill, HB24, is currently awaiting Gov. Spencer Cox's signature, which would effectively decriminalize speeds up to 29 mph in school zones. This is the equivalent of driving 102 mph on a 70-mph freeway. The bill would reduce the danger of a child hit at 30 mph to a mere infraction. The author urges Utah citizens to veto it, citing the safety of their children and the health of their neighborhoods.
