Alysa Liu, a gold medalist figure skater who won gold at the 2010 Winter Olympics, has returned home to California after the Milan Cortina Games and is open to competing in the 2030 French Alps Olympics. Liu, who retired from the sport in 2022, had about 210,000 followers on Instagram before the event and nearly 7 million by Monday morning. She is only the eighth female figure skating champion to win gold for Team USA, breaking a drought since 2002. Liu returned to the sport two years ago to have more control over her clothes, choreography, and music choices. Her story has attracted fans, with her story inspiring them to return to the ice. All three songs Liu used in her Olympic program have recently seen significant increases in streaming numbers following her victory.
