Sony and Honda have announced that they are discontinuing their PlayStation-integrated electric vehicle collab, the Afeela 1, due to Honda's reassessment of its automobile electrification strategy. The car was set to feature gaming capabilities, in-car movie viewing on screens throughout the vehicle, Zoom integration, a voice assistant, and some generative AI capabilities. It was also planned for Level 4 autonomous driving capabilities. The decision comes as Honda plans to restructure its EV business in the U.S. in a $15.7 billion writedown. The joint venture, Sony Honda Mobility, will refund full refunding the reservation fees. This follows Honda's decision to cancel the Honda 0 series EVs and the Acura RDX in the US.
