Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst has accused Democrats of delaying funding for the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) by any means, while frontline workers and travelers are affected. The DHS has been shut down since Feb. 14 after lawmakers failed to agree on reforms to Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Ernst dismissed the idea that Republicans are obstructing relief for TSA employees. She argued that her party has repeatedly pushed for a full funding package, which is met with resistance from Democrats. The White House has already offered several concessions in an attempt to resolve the issue.
