Israeli opposition leader, Yair Lapid, has criticized a reported peace framework between the U.S. and Iran, calling it a "disaster" and a "diplomatic failure". The agreement involves a 60-day ceasefire allowing the two sides to negotiate restrictions on Tehran's nuclear program and potentially reopen the Strait of Hormuz. Lapid's party is aligning with former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett's group ahead of the Israeli legislative elections in October. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has also commented on the negotiations, stating that any final agreement with Iran must eliminate the nuclear danger.
