Mary Beth Hurt, the Tony-nominated actress known for her emotionally impactful performances in films such as Interiors, Chilly Scenes of Winter and The World According to Garp, has died at 79. Her death was announced by her daughter, Molly Schrader, and her husband, Oscar-winning writer and director Paul Schrader. Hurt, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease in 2015, had been living in an assisted-living facility in Manhattan with her husband. She had previously appeared on Broadway 15 times from 1974-2011 and received three career Tony nominations for her role in "Criminal of the Heart" in 1982. Her first husband, William Hurt, was an Oscar winner.
