New York City Mayor Mamdani has teamed up with Bronx-born rapper Cardi B to announce applications for the free child care program for 2-year-olds, 2-K, which will open in June for parents from June 2 to 26. The program will offer the first 2,000 seats in five local school districts in Upper Manhattan, the northern section of the Bronx, parts of Central Brooklyn, and Southeast Queens. To announce the enrollment period, Maddani released a short-form video on social media and launched a jingle competition, where people can write an original 15-30-second ditty urging parents to apply. The winning jingle will be the "official 2-k theme" and play on the radio. This collaboration is part of Mamdagn's strategy of using social media to promote universal child care and governance.
