The S&P 500 has been testing the lower boundary of its latest trading range, a trading box, and these ranges are important reference points for risk and opportunity. The last time we saw a clear trading box breakdown was during the February 2025 to April 2025 period. Nicolas Darvas, author of 'How I Made $2,000,000 in the Stock Market', developed a simple system that buys strength when price breaks out of a clearly defined trading range. He focused on stocks with significant volatility and upside potential. Darvas placed two orders above the range and a protective stop just below it. He also avoided short selling based on price targets and relied on stop losses to manage risk and protect capital. Despite these recent developments, the S & P 500 has remained static for over two months.
