Spotify paid the music business over $11 billion last year, bringing it to a total of $70 billion over the course of its life, according to its latest Loud & Clear report. The company reported that this figure represents a more than 10% increase year-over-year, which Spotify claims is more than double the growth rate of other music industry income sources. Half of these payouts were generated by indie artists and labels, compared to "superstar artists". Spotify also highlighted its central role in the music economy as the largest platform for artists and the largest source of recorded music revenue, as well as as a driver of industry growth. The top 80 artists on Spotify all generated more than $10 million from the platform alone in 2025, with over 13,800 artists generating at least $100,000 a year from Spotify alone, nearly 1,400 more than the previous year.
