Democratic Arizona Sen. Mark Kelly has expressed major concern about Iran's nuclear ambitions, despite insisting that the country was not enriching uranium at weapons-grade levels. This comes after President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the Iran nuclear deal, which he argued limited Iran's uranium enrichment at the time. Kelly also suggested that abandoning the deal may have contributed to current tensions. Iran has reportedly enriched uranium to 60% purity, far above the 3.67% cap on the 2015 nuclear deal and beyond what is typically needed for civilian energy use. The report also revealed that 60% enriched uranium is sufficient to produce a nuclear weapon in large quantities.
