The National Weather Service has issued a warning for Monday morning, with severe storms expected in North Carolina and Virginia expected to occur throughout the day. The most severe storm threats form from Georgia north to Pennsylvania, with unconfirmed instability expected to intensify during the afternoon and evening. An intense upper-level pattern will foster the growth of supercells, and a Quasi-Linear Convective System (QLCS) is expected to develop ahead of a cold front on Monday. The WXII 12 First Warning weather team urges people to prepare for the potential severe weather on Monday, with widespread damaging wind gusts forming and the risk of strong tornadoes. If severe weather doesn't develop on Monday it will make you more prepared for the next round of severe weather later this spring.
