Mass. lawmakers could extend rideshare fee into 2027

The Massachusetts Senate has voted to extend the 20-cent fee on rideshare trips beyond the end of the current year. The extension was included in a supplemental spending bill to allocate funds from the so-called millionaire's tax. The fee will generate millions for the state, which is facing a deficit due to federal funding cuts and rising costs. In the past decade, rideshare use has increased from nearly 65 million to over 90 million.
