The new chips feature an 18-core CPU that Apple claims is over 4x the peak GPU compute for AI compared to the previous generation. However, the price of these new devices may be surprising due to a shortage of RAM, which has led to increased demand for more computers and data centers to power AI. Analysts predict that smartphone shipments will plummet this year due to the shortage, and other hardware like laptops may also be impacted.
