The New York Islanders lost 8-3 to the Penguins, but coach Patrick Roy may give Ilya Sorokin an immediate opportunity for redemption following a career-worst performance in the team's previous game. Sorokin, who was repeatedly stranded by his teammates and allowed a career high of seven goals, said he was physically ready to play in back-to-back games. Despite this, Sorokin had one of his best performances of the season in the second game of the set, recording his league-leading seventh shutout in a crucial 1-0 win over Columbus. The Islanders have two days off before their next game, before starting another back-o-back set, hosting Philadelphia and traveling to face Carolina.
