More than 150 people were sickened during a norovirus outbreak on a Princess Cruises ship, Star Princess. Among the 4,307 guests on the current Caribbean cruise, 104 reported being ill, along with 49 crew members. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stated that the symptoms were vomiting and diarrhea. The cruise line disinfected every area of the ship and added extra sanitizing throughout the voyage. The CDC's Vessel Sanitation Program is assisting the ship in controlling the outbreak. The outbreak is part of a larger trend of gastrointestinal illness on cruise ships.
