The parents of a 10-year-old daughter with autism, Heather Lynn Cross and Darcy Ronald Cross, are facing upgraded criminal charges in relation to their daughter's death. The girl was crushed to death by her bed after being left unsupervised for several hours, according to an updated probable cause affidavit. Both parents are also facing four counts of wrongfully obtaining assistance by false statements, concealment, or impersonation for allegedly collecting over $5,000 in assistance. The fraud charges stem from an investigation that led authorities to believe that the surviving daughter's behavior was significantly different than those reported. The couple were initially charged with manslaughter following the death and are still facing that charge.
