Dozens file for Congress in Kansas City-area districts ahead of deadline

The filing period for Missouri's August 2026 primary is nearing its deadline, with multiple candidates entering races across three U.S. House districts in the Kansas City area. The filing period, overseen by the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office, opened on Feb. 24 and runs through 5 p.m. Tuesday, March 31. A recent ruling by a judge allowing a new map on Missouri's CONGRESSIONal MAPs could shift political power across the state. The ACLU has challenged the judge's decision, stating it will appeal to the court's decision to allow the new map to be implemented. So far, dozens of candidates have filed for Congress in three districts across the Kansas city area.
