The degree allows scientists to advance practices to improve land resiliency when faced by ecological threats. Sandy Smart, interim director of South Dakota State University Extension, stated that the degree is difficult to compete with degree programs like forestry and wildlife conservation. Students providing feedback said rangelandon management was worthwhile as its integration with these other fields of study puts them in high demand.
