Trump details Big Tech electric price pledge

Google, Microsoft, Meta, Oracle, xAI, OpenAI, and Amazon have agreed to sign onto the "Ratepayer Protection Pledge" to prevent higher electricity costs for consumers. The pledge includes a commitment to provide or pay for all power generation and electricity needed for AI projects, adding new electricity generating capacity to the grid, negotiating separate rate structures with different utilities, investing in local communities for workforce development, and using their infrastructure to provide backup power to local grids. The move comes amid concerns about the impact of data centers' impact on customer electricity rates.
