Mayor of Louisiana town accused of illegally taking $75K in Medicaid benefits

Winnsboro Mayor Alice Wallace has been arrested on six counts of Medicaid fraud charges by Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill. The charges allege that Wallace illegally received $75,000 in Medicaid benefits over a five-year period starting in 2021 by misrepresenting her income and marital status. The arrest comes ahead of the Winnsboro mayoral election.
