The city of Minneapolis has presented yet another design for Quincy Street, a much beloved street in the Northeast Arts District, causing concern among artists and building owners. The new designs were debuted to artists and property owners on Quincy Street who believe they would push working artists out of an industrial-zoned area. The public meeting ended with no clear solutions and no timetable for when any final design will go before the Minneapolis City Council for approval. The project is part of a larger $20 million plan to reconstruct seven streets north of Broadway and east of Monroe Street in northeast Minneapolis. Work could begin as early as 2027, but construction will need to be approved before the project can proceed.
