Critics are attempting to remove Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Marty Makary from office after President Trump forced him to approve flavored e-cigarettes with new “age gate” ID-verifying technology. The president's anger and subsequent capitulation have led to an outpouring of criticism, with anti-abortion campaigners, nicotine-delivery advocates, and some administration officials joining forces to topple Makary. The accusations stem from Makary's support for the mail-distribution of the abortion pill mifepristone, which is supported by the president, despite his own feelings. The administration also expressed internal frustration that Makary hasn't used the FDA's authority to control the use of puberty blockers.
