Dunkin’, the largest coffee and donut brand in the US, is set to exit an entire market in 2026 after 14 years in India, following a period of stagnation in the country. The company, Jubilant FoodWorks, has announced it will not renew its Dunkin' franchise agreement due to its expiration on Dec. 31, 2026. Despite this, Dunkin‘ was acquired by Inspire Brands, which also owns Arby’s, Baskin-Robbins, Buffalo Wild Wings, Jimmy John's, and Sonic. The brand now operates over 14,000 restaurants in nearly 40 global markets. Despite its global scale, Dunkins' performance has not been consistent across all regions. The struggles in India were attributed to a product-market fit issue rather than a simple execution failure, with a product recognition gap and positioning issues.
