No parking at MetLife for World Cup—here’s the plan

The North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority has decided to eliminate parking and tailgating at MetLife for the World Cup. Instead, it will use trains, buses, and rideshares to move large crowds of up to 80,000 per game. The state is building new infrastructure specifically for the tournament, including a new bus terminal at the MetLife and a dedicated "TransitWay" dedicated to keep vehicles moving. The Turnpike Authority has approved $4 million for a fleet of 85 contingency buses in case of rail disruptions. The impact of these events will also affect non-matchgoers, with three matches on weekdays.
