Polk County supervisors are set to vote on a $1.9 million project that would offset a fourth of the county's energy use and potentially save hundreds of thousands over the next three decades. The field is part of the County's 2021 plan to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 90% by 2040. The project would cost the county between $850,000 and $900,000 once tax credits or other incentives were factored in. The system would generate just over 1 megawatt of power, enough power to power between 750 and 1,000 homes.
