Anthony Calvo, a 35-year-old Long Beach man, has been sentenced to 22 years in prison for his role in a 2025 ax attack that left his former coworker with life-threatening injuries. The assault occurred during a walk home from an overnight shift as a taxi dispatcher. Calvo ran up behind the victim and struck him at least three times with an ax, causing serious injuries to his head and jaw. The attack was motivated by a workplace dispute, according to Nassau County District Attorney Anne Donnelly. After the attack, Calvo was spotted on surveillance footage riding a white e-bike away from the scene.
