OpenAI announces GPT-5.5, its latest artificial intelligence model

OpenAI has released its latest artificial intelligence model, GPT-5.5, which it claims is better at coding, using computers and developing deeper research capabilities. The launch comes less than two months after OpenAI released GPT 5.4. The company's President, Greg Brockman, praised the model's ability to solve problems with less guidance. However, the model does not meet its "Critical" cybersecurity risk threshold, which could lead to "unprecedented new pathways to severe harm". GPT.5 is currently being rolled out to OpenAI's paid subscribers.
