Agriculture Secretary says help is coming to Georgia farmers hit by Hurricane Helene

Georgia farmers and growers are set to receive over $530 million in federal block grants for recovery efforts following Hurricane Helene. The funds were delayed nearly 18 months after Congress approved the funding in December 2024, but were delayed as federal officials finalized agreements with individual states. U.S. Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins apologized for the delay, stating that the specific block grant process is slower than federal aid. Georgia was among the last states to receive its portion of the funding, which totals $561 million. The state is ready to process the relief funds.
