Confederation of African Football (CAF) president Patrice Motsepe has admitted that African football is still dealing with trust issues and questions over its integrity. This comes after Senegal was stripped of the Africa Cup of Nations title after a walkoff in protest over Morocco's decision to award the title to Morocco, following their protest over the outcome of the final. Motepe defended the decision of CAF's Appeal Board to award Morocco the title, stating that both CAF’s disciplinary and appeal boards are independent entities made up of legal practitioners chosen with the help of member associations. He also highlighted that CAF was committed to fair play and denied any preferential treatment amid perceptions that Morocco has too much influence over the African game.
