Chris Murphy on Trump’s Iran threat: ‘A clear war crime’

Sen. Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) has called President Trump's threats to Iran as "war crimes" if they are true. He accused Republicans of ignoring the fact that Iran's restrictions on shipping through the Strait of Hormuz would increase energy prices, particularly in the US. Murphy also criticized Trump's threat to destroy Iranian infrastructure targets, stating that even a fraction of these could kill thousands of innocent people. Since the U.S. and Israel launched airstrikes against Iran on Feb. 28, over 1,600 civilians in the Middle Eastern country have been killed, including at least 244 children. Other Democratic lawmakers also criticized the threats, with House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries calling them "disgusting and unhinged".
